Hi!

I appreciate you stopping by this page!

"Sunbleached Saguaro" is of one of my favorite paintings that I've done and is my most popular piece of artwork.

I grew up in the Sonoran desert in central Arizona and if you didn't know, we have a unique cactus here called the saguaro. It is the plant that defines this area (it grows nowhere else) and is the symbol of this wilderness.

I wanted to capture its majesty and recreate the feeling of being in a harsh desert, where it can get around 120 degrees in the summer but also show that, almost magically, vegetation will grow lush during monsoon season and after winter storms.

I did this by using bright white paint, adding a textured style, like that of the bare bones of a saguaro that has been washed out and faded by the scorching sun. Then I used a criss-cross pattern in green, depicting the acres of new plant life that emerge after torrential rainfall. I tied it off with a thin inset border of gold acrylic paint to symbolize the royalty that is the saguaro. The Sonoran desert is its kingdom.

Why am I selling prints of my original art?

FIRSTLY
Great art brings great energy into your home, and especially nature art. Have you ever just spent time looking at nature and felt full of wonder and joy? I want you to be able to look up at my abstract painting of a saguaro cactus and hopefully it reminds you of something that made you happy in the past. It's a rough world out there. We need everything we can to remind us that there's plenty of good and plenty of pleasant memories in that rough world. Plus, cacti are all the rage now! And especially the king of the cactus world: the saguaro!

SECONDLY
Not everyone can afford my art and I always wanted to make my art accessible for everyone. I want the people to resonate with the subject matter as well as the art that I create, and I want to see how happy those images make the people who hang my art in their homes and offices. It sounds corny, but I really like seeing people smile when they genuinely enjoy something. It means so much to me. Offering affordable prints also allows me to get my work out there, to gain more exposure, to share my creations with loads of people, and it's been my biggest dream to get my artwork seen around the globe. I want to be a successful artist and you can help me do that!

So...

Below this letter you'll see I've shown an image of the 8" x 8" print you will be receiving. It comes printed on white 12 pt glossy high-quality card stock photography paper and looks fantastic.

ABOUT GREG BHÁIRD

Greg Bháird (pronounced greg wōrj) has been interested in art since he was a small child doodling on paper. He used to paint watercolor paintings as a boy and would go door to door around his neighborhood trying to sell them to his neighbors.

As he grew, he studied art at school from junior high through high school, drawing and painting in acrylics, then put any notions of an art career aside as he found himself immersed in the workforce, pouring and finishing concrete for the first ten years of his adult life, where the most creative thing he ever did was make a winding sidewalk.

He continued to draw through the following decade, even as the Recession and Covid-19 pandemic forced him to pursue various occupations from aerospace machine shop manufacturing to law firm office work.

During the pandemic in 2020, he decided he needed to take the step to finally have the art career he’d always dreamed of, and began to paint in oils with a focus on realism, and then moved to contemporary abstract painting in oils, then acrylics.

He continually researches painting techniques and continues his art education online from various artists and art teachers from around the world who offer their knowledge.

His work has been showcased online throughout Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and his 48” x 48” oil painting “Constructing The Dyson Sphere” was included on the cover of Larker, an art magazine celebrating the work and accomplishments of bi individuals.

Most recently, he was interviewed and his artwork was featured in the local magazine Shoutout Arizona. His piece “Wyrm’s Den” was showcased in the group exhibition for the GVAL 19th Annual Juried Fine Art Show and Sale in Gallery 2 at HD South in Gilbert, AZ and he had a solo exhibition at the Ocotillo Fine Art & Craft Show in Chandler, AZ.

His piece “Snowfall In The Desert” was shown at Howland Studios Gallery in Phoenix, AZ in May of 2022.

He currently resides with his partner, Lane, in Gilbert, AZ where a corner of a room is his studio.
